Hi everyone, welcome back to term 2. We hope you had a great holiday and are ready for a really exciting term.
As you know we will be learning about our local history this term. Next Thursday the 9th of May we will be visiting the Highercombe Hotel Museum where the students will be able to experience life 100 years ago.
On Thursday the 6th of June we are going to the Tea Tree Gully Library to take part in the Local History talks. We are still looking for parents to help transport students there. If you are able to help please let us know as soon as possible. If we don't get enough helpers we will need to hire a bus which will incur a cost.
The children may have told you we have had a sound field system installed in our classroom which is to help students with a hearing impairment. We have already noticed the benefits of this as children can very clearly hear instructions and it helps to clarify the speaker's voice.
Speak to you soon,
Rachael

Week 5 Stardome Visit
We had a visit from SciTech who bought along their Stardome tent. The aim of this visit was to further enhance our learning about night and day, how the Earth moves and also how the sun and moon move.
The students really enjoyed going into the tent and being able to see the night sky.
It was pleasing to note that the staff from SciTech were particularly impressed with how much the kids knew about the topic.

Hey Everyone,
It is now week 4 and we are finally settling into our new routines. Our literacy groups started this week and we would like to thank those parents Danielle Sturtzel, Sue Gosden, Bryony and Maxine for their help this week.
We are really happy with the way the kids are settling down and becoming organised and responsible.
You would have recieved the notice about our incursion on the 6th March. We are really excited about the Stardome visiting. The kids get to crawl inside and discover space. There was a typo on the note about having the money back by the 5th of February, this was obviously meant to be the 5th of March!!
Next Wednesday Lisa will not be in the classroom and on Friday the 1st March Rachael will be attending a Literacy Leaders conference.
Look forward to seeing you all soon :)

Week 3
Wow! It is week three already! We have all been working hard to get to knows each other and plan and program learning for your children. We were hoping to have our literacy groups working this week but due to everything going on we will start next week. Thank you to all those parents who have volunteered to come in and help us on a regular basis, it is greatly appreciated.
As you would be aware our class will be presenting the assembly on Friday at 10.00am. If you are able to come along we would love to see you.
Tonight is Acquaintance Night and we look forward to seeing you all and meeting those parents we haven't had the chance to meet yet. If you are unable to attend we will send our information to you via the students tomorrow.

Welcome Everyone!!
We are really looking forward to 2013 and getting to know all our families. We trust everyone had a really nice break and are also keen to start the new school year.
We will be able to give you lots of information on our Acquaintance Night which is scheduled for week three his term. However, we do look forward to getting to meet you all before then!
We are using this blog again this year as it worked very successfully last year and parents fed back how much they enjoyed hearing what our class had been doing. We do include photographs of the students but we never use surnames. If you have not given permission on your child's enrolment form for them to be photographed then we won't include any photos of your child.
If you would like to make comments on our blog then you will need to set up a google account (which is very easy), however you are able to view the blog without an account. If you are able to set up a free google account that would be fantastic as it is great for us and the children to get feedback about what had been happening.
If you have any further question please come and see me!!
Thanks, Rachael
